Newsletter: February 2015

As this is the first newsletter of 2015, allow me to wish you all a belated Happy New Year!
Upcoming events
Miyuu on Feb 8th. Now with 50% more pain!
The talented Miyuu Yamamoto will be teaching on Sunday February 8th. She brings such a wealth of knowledge, a 60 minutes class just wasn't long enough to absorb it all. Therefore, her classes have been lengthening to 90 minutes. Price will remain at $20. As always, bring your "A-game" your no-gi gear and some ice packs and Band-Aids!
Grading
The grading day has not been set yet. You can expect it to be sometime in mid to late March (while being mindful of March break). There is still much syllabus work to be done before grading so use this time wisely. If you arrive at class early, or in the unlikely event your instructor arrives late, use the time to practice your self-defense, progressive guard, basic sweeps, positions and attacks. The class already rolls at a high level, so don't be concerned about sparring.
Props
Speaking of high level rolling...props go out Brad for his Gold Medal performance at the Ascension tournament! He had a battle of sheer will against a real beast and came out on top. Awesome! Props also go to our brother Tristan for hitting gold via RNC at Ascension too. Well done!
Welcome back!
A warm welcome back goes out to Katya, she is arriving in Toronto this week. We look forward to picking up some new tricks from her training in Barcelona.

I'll see you on the mats!
Greg
